Former Northern Irish Champion to BRSCC FF1600 for 2015

photo 3Former Northern Irish Formula Ford Champion Jonny McMullan will dovetail a continued presence in Northern Irish Formula Ford with an assault on the BRSCC Formula Ford 1600 National Championship for 2015.

The Northern Irishman ventured over to Brands Hatch for the Formula Ford Festival this year, finishing a close second to 2014 BRSCC FF1600 runner-up James Raven,  proving that McMullan should be on the pace straight away come the start of the season at Silverstone in April.

“We’re hoping to do the whole National Championship, plus the Walter Hayes and the Formula Ford Festival too,” said McMullan

The 22-year-old has the benefit of €50,000 of funding behind him for the coming season – thanks to winning the 2014 Motorsport Ireland Young Racing Driver of the year – and he will compete in a Van Diemen with Bernard Dolan Racing.

“The last couple of years we’ve done Formula Ford in Ireland as we just haven’t had the budget to stuff in Britain.

“We tried to do the British Formula Ford Championship with Cliff Dempsey Racing but we did two rounds and ran out of money basically, so it’s nice to have our plans for 2015 set out.”

McMullan has been one of the most successful young drivers in Northern Irish Formula Ford – winning his first title in the pre-93 category at the age of 18 in 2009 – and is looking forward to making a splash in 2015.

“It’s going to be a good year, and I’m looking forward to getting my name out there.”
