Jon Lancaster led the way on the last day of GP2 testing from Bahrain.
The MP Motorsport driver set a 1m 36.647s late in the morning session, after exchanging times with McLaren development driver Stoffel Vandoorne for most of the morning. This is the second time Lancaster has topped a pre season test session in the GP2 series this year (link below.)
The Briton, from Leeds, has done no harm to his reputation in the series during pre season, as he is yet to cement a place on the grid this year. After leading two of the testing sessions, Lancaster’s stock should rise dramatically in the paddock.
The top twenty in the morning were all quicker than the times set in the afternoon, as the teams used the time to fine tune race setups and practice race-runs in preparation for the series first round, also at Bahrain, on April 4.
EQ8 Caterham’s Alexander Rossi, Carlin’s Felipe Nasr, ART’s Stoffel Vandoorne and Hilmer’s Daniel Abt rounded out the top 5 quickest times of the day.
